All of your classes moved online, team practices and games postponed with no clear date of return, and most social activities canceled while the rest moved primarily online. So how can you socialize? There are some ways.

If you reside in college accommodation then even the walk to throw out garbage can result in interesting meetings. But if you don’t, it’s not the end of the world! Colleges use various social media to communicate with their students, so it’s a great way to be in contact with some of your peers. Just don’t be too pushy about it—and neither closed up. If you want to find someone to speak with, make sure you actually look approachable. And of course, there are still some online activities and class chats you can join.

But is it really necessary? Do you really need to have friends in college? That depends on your personality and on what you do. Many writers, for instance, have a hard time finding (and keeping) friends since writing requires a lot of ALONE time. People with social anxiety are terrified to even speak with somebody. Introverts at all enjoy the time being alone. And there are plenty of other cases.

I want to point out one thing, though. No matter how you value your loneliness, there are periods of time when no matter what case you have, you need to talk. No, you REQUIRE it. It’s just a part of being human.

Stay safe everybody.
